what makes BITS unique among colleges is that it does not have reservation ... there is growing discontent among people about reservations.. reservations in every field right from education to employment is really disgusting.
the 49.5% reservation in iits and other institutes is really horrible and terrifying.
it would be good on the part of the BITS not to yield to external pressures (ofcourse political parties)in the far futre..there are debates going on across the country and protests against reservations( such as the one took by aiims students last year), but none seemes to be caring .. instead of decreasing the quota they are going on increasing for their personal gains and vote banks..ask them to provide free education for the so called backward classes.no one objects to it..but ,no it would be a burden on their personal bank accounts..
one friend of mine who got almost same marks in jee got very good rank in jee while i am in nq catogoery.. now he proudly rises his collar and says "i got XY rank in ABCD catogoery" how difficult it is on our part to listen to those words ..
the governments won't listen anyways ..
the best way is to keep quite and do hard work......
this is my personal opinion...there may be objections.. but to be clear this is my personal opinion

Reservation was introduced as temporary means to give some advantage to backward sections. It was never meant to be a permanent solution. The permanent solution that was suggested was to improve and create world class institutions for everyone. Unfortunately the shoddy politics and to gather votes the reservation quotas are introduced every now and then and they never seem to end. This would surely result in brain-drain in the long run and students will lose faith and interest to study in reputed universities of india.
